The AI Act applies in stages. The AI Omnibus has moved some of the dates.
Four key terms
These four terms show which obligations apply to you.
Provider
Anyone who develops an AI system or has one developed and offers it under their own name or puts it into service.
Deployer
Anyone who uses AI under their own responsibility in a professional context, for example in a company, a tax advisory firm or a school. Most organisations fall into this group.
AI literacy
Skills, knowledge and understanding that allow AI to be used in an informed way, with awareness of its opportunities, risks and possible harm.
High-risk AI
AI used for certain purposes in sensitive areas, for example selecting job applications or assessing learning outcomes, and AI as a safety component in regulated products. Stricter obligations apply to it.
